Woollyeyes is a meeting place where people from all walks of life and all parts of the world can come together and make a difference through sharing knowledge; empowering others to make more informed decisions and be better informed about how to live their lives in an ethical manner.
What’s great about Woollyeyes is that it provides the information people need, from statistics about carbon footprints to articles about how to heat-proof their houses whilst also providing direct links to products that can make a difference.
Most exciting of all is the incorporation of Wiki technology which, in addition to our blog, allows users to post their own (moderated) articles and increase the knowledge base for free sharing with others. Our goal is to provide a single space to spread our aims - a reduction of the human impact on the environment; to make people aware of the human effect of their purchases and to show people how positive actions can bring about a change for t he better.
Mission statement
Aim. To create a resource that will provide everybody with the information and tools they need to be able to make ethical choices about every aspect of their daily lives.
How? Initially we hope to be able to point people in the right direction to find the information they need to make the right choices, and once we have gained their trust, we will ourselves become information providers and the source of all their ethical needs. People really do want to be able to make ethical purchases, lead ethical lives and create a better future for their children but with so many scattered options they feel lost amidst the morass of niche websites, so it is our stated goal to provide them with a single window through which they can safely and successfully achieve this.
Background. Woollyeyes is the brainchild of Amin Saleem, the creator and CEO of the award-winning AutoeBid online reverse-auctions website. With the sustainability of global resources in the forefront of the minds of the new generation, there is scope for a totally new standard of business which bases its model on ethical acceptability rather than maximising profits. The future belongs to those who are willing to help others, rather than to simply help themselves.
