When buying a new cooker, it is usually worth opting for a gas appliance rather than an electric one – studies have found gas cookers to be more efficient and less carbon intensive. However if purchasing an electric oven, choosing one with fan assistance will reduce the time taken to heat up and heat loss which lowers energy consumption.
